This research paper aims to critically examine the constitutional validity of sedition laws in India through a multifaceted approach. The scope encompasses a historical review of the evolution of sedition laws, from colonial origins to contemporary interpretations, emphasizing significant judicial decisions and legislative amendments. It will conduct a detailed constitutional analysis, focusing on provisions such as freedom of speech and expression and reasonable restrictions under the Indian Constitution, juxtaposed with the application of sedition laws. Case studies of landmark legal battles will be analysed to understand judicial reasoning and the impact on fundamental rights. Additionally, an international comparative perspective will be explored to provide context and contrast with global standards.
