Abstract
Description
In this dissertation, the legal framework in India, including key legislation such as the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children Act, 2015, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Act 2021, as well as relevant constitutional provisions, will be examined. The definitions, categorizations, and theories of juvenile delinquency will also be examined. It will particularly examine juvenile crime trends in Assam, including the backgrounds of offenders, case disposal, and both BNS, IPC, and SLL offenses. The study will investigate the media's role, as well as the factors that contribute to adolescent delinquency, including socioeconomic, psychological, environmental, and technological influences. It will assess the effectiveness of legal and institutional responses, including law enforcement and rehabilitation programs. Additionally, it will critically evaluate the current juvenile justice jurisprudence in the context of international standards, comparing India's system with those of other countries. The research will be geographically focused on Assam, relying on available data.
