Abstract
The regulation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India has emerged as a significant challenge, exacerbated by the rapid uptake of AI technologies in high-risk areas such as facial recognition, predictive policing, and automated decision-making in governance. Despite the promising capabilities of AI, there is an absence of a comprehensive and coherent legal framework governing AI in India. The regulatory approach thus far has been piecemeal,
resulting in gaps in oversight, accountability, and transparency
